Library updates for staff teaching and supporting students at partner centres.

In this update University Library Services share library news and links to support we think staff and students at partner centres will find useful. It would be great if you could share these updates with students too where appropriate.

Big Talk to the Library 2024

Every year the University Library runs the Big Talk to the Library Survey where we ask students to share their experience of using the University Library. We use the data to develop library services for example last year we used all the feedback to customise our new Library Reading List sytem.

Students studying at partner centres are encouraged to participate too and we'd love your support in sharing the survey with students at your institution. There are 8 questions and it will only take 5 minutes to complete.

We've recorded a short video that you can share with students to encourage them to participate.

Library Support Page for your Centre

The University Library has created tailored web pages for staff at transnational partner centres where you can find information about accessing e-resources, student induction support, Library Reading Lists, subject guides, referencing, training for staff and more.

Choose your centre from the dropdown box below.

Cite Them Right - Log in Advice for Partner Tutors

Students and staff at partner centres have access to Cite Them Right Online, a comprehensive referencing guide that can help student with referencing.

In terms of logging in - there has been no change for students. Students can continue to login via Library Search or directly into the Cite Them Right web page. However, there has been a small change for partner staff which is outlined below.

Partner Staff should access Cite Them Right Online in one of the following ways:

  • Via the Library Search record to ensure access. This uses a proxy that mimics being in Sunderland. Partner staff can no longer log directly into the Cite Them Right page using the Institutional Login due to a change in authentication set-up.
  • Via the Databases A-Z list to access Cite Them Right which links to the Library Search record.

Partner staff can no longer login directly to Cite Them Right Web page (using the Institutional Login option) due to a change in authentication set-up.

Library Collections - View New Books

The Library has recently launched our Collection Pages and we've created collections to highlight new books that we've recently added to the collection. The collections are a mix of print books and ebooks. Partner students and staff can access the titles that are ebooks.

New and Updated Subject Library Guides

Academic Liaison Librarians at University of Sunderland have been updating their key resources pages and moving them to our new Library Guides system. Each Subject Guide is curated to link students to relevant resources while providing examples, activities and videos to help student find and use the most appropriate resources.
