The 88th edition of the British National Formulary or BNF, is now available in print in the Library.

The BNF is crucial for the selection and use of medicines, and has information on the management of common conditions. We know a lot of you enjoy using the print edition as the BNF 87 has been on loan almost continually since it was published earlier in 2024.

You can always find the most up-to-date edition of the BNF online via Medicines Complete. You'll need to log in via Open Athents/Shibboleth with your usual username and password to do so.

Accessing British Pharmacopoeia

There has been a recent change to the way users are required to log into The British Pharmacopoeia through our institutional subscription. For anyone who has encountered an issue accessing this database, we will provide some brief instructions with screenshots below.Start by accessing British Pharmacopoeia as usual, or using the link here:British Pharmacopoeia The British Pharmacopoeia (BP) is the official collection of standards for UK medicinal products and pharmaceutical substances. Feed back about Library spaces, AI for research and more

The Big Talk is live! You can complete the survey right now at go.sunderland.ac.uk/share Each year, the Library and our colleagues across Student Journey ask you to talk to us about your needs in our Big Talk campaign. From now until April, you will see us dotted around campus with iPads asking you to take 5 minutes to tell us what you think about how we can develop . I'm particularly keen that pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy and bioscience students help feed into the Library@Murray refurbishment plans. I know you're in the Library a LOT and you will have great ideas on how to improve and develop this space.This year we're also asking about Artificial Intelligence, as we have our eye on a few developments, but want to make sure we're implementing the right things and providing clear and useful guidance on how and when to use them. There are also chances to tell us about your academic and digital skills and to feed back to YourSU.Your feedback really does make a big difference to University planning and decision-making. Library building opening hours over the holidays

Library Buildings over the University closure periodLibrary building opening hours are available on our webpage. Please always check before you come in!Library@Murray is open but unstaffed from 10:00-18:00 each day from Saturday 21 December – Tuesday 31 December. Library@Murray will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Library@Pasteur will be closed from 15 December until 6 January.Routine opening hours and staffing resume on 2 January.
