A guide about the support available to students with long-term health conditions, disabilities, or specific learning difficulties.

Header saying Disability Support alternative formats

We can look to provide alternative formats for students who have difficulties accessing printed materials. If you need to request an alternative format please contact us through Library Talk. Please bear in mind that time will be needed to organise alternative formats.

Other resources

The RNIB Bookshare UK education collection is for print-disabled learners, those with dyslexia, and those who are blind or partially sighted. This service accesses a range of books in different formats. Many of the print books in the University of Sunderland Library collections are available via this service. Please contact us through Library Talk if you require access to this resource.

How do I reference accessible formats?

You may find that the format or software you use for studying means you are unable to exactly follow the referencing style required by your course. For example, it can be very difficult to locate page numbers in a PDF using a screen reader. Let your tutors and academic staff know about any referencing adjustments that may need to be made to ensure that they are suitable.
