The New EBSCO User Interface

Information, guidance and links to online tutorials for the new EBSCO user interface.

New EBSCO user interface

Many of our students and staff use the EBSCOhost platform to access a wide range databases that the Library subscribes to. EBSCO are upgrading their platform interface to improve text-to-speech and other accessibility functionality from mobile and desktop devices. It will be available as the default interface from the 9th of December 2025. The new interface will look different - visit the EBSCO webpages to find tutorials and guides that show how you can make the most of the new interface.

Will my saved items be available in the new interface?

EBSCO offer two types of folder storage; the default 'My Folder' and custom folders that you can choose to create.

  • Your default 'My Folder' contents will transfer automatically into the new interface
  • If you have created ‘Custom Folders’, these will not transfer over into the new interface.
  • Use the ‘How can I download the Data from MyEBSCO custom folders’ guide to find out how to download and save items stored in your custom folders.
  • 'Persistent links to Searches' subfolders will not transfer to the new interface. For users who created persistent links to searches, the most direct solution is to go to the new interface, perform your search, and then create a new persistent link for that search in the new system.

What won't change in the new interface

  • The database content won't be affected by the change
  • The switch to the new interface shouldn't effect the results you get when running a search in an EBSCO database
  • The principles of how you search a database (e.g. using AND/OR/NOT operators, phrase searching, truncation) also won’t change.

Can I still use the 'classic' interface?
The current 'classic' interface will be available to use until the end of June 2026. You can access it here.

What databases are available through the EBSCO platform?
The Library subscribes to the following EBSCO provided databases. Visit Databases A to Z to access these.
