Using Microsoft 365

What is Microsoft 365?

As a student here at the University of Sunderland you will be assigned a free Microsoft 365 account. Microsoft 365 is a suite of applications offered by Microsoft which enables you to communicate, collaborate and co-create with your tutors and peers on any device from anywhere.

Some of the key applications of Microsoft 365 include:

  • Microsoft Word: A word processing application used to create and edit documents
  • Microsoft Excel: A spreadsheet application used for data analysis and visualisation
  • Microsoft PowerPoint: A presentation application used to create slideshows and presentations
  • Microsoft Teams: A video calling application used for online classes and seminars
  • Microsoft Outlook: An email and calendar application used for managing emails, appointments, and tasks
  • Microsoft OneDrive: A cloud-based storage solution used to store and share files and folders

To access Microsoft 365 applications, visit Microsoft 365. (links to an external site) and log in using your University user ID and password. Here, you can access all of the apps listed above from one place.

For each platform, i.e. Microsoft Word, you can find information on how to get started, how to format your work, and how to make the most of all the features.
