Special Collections

news, information and thoughts from Special Collections, University of Sunderland Library

What is Special Collections?

Special Collections holds records and objects which relate to and tell us about particular organisations, people and times.  We received Heritage Lottery Funding to set up the facilities, and access by appointment is available to university staff, students and the public.

Our collections provide great scope for original research and the potential to complement teaching and learning at the university. They comprise archives which include a full range of materials such as records, photographs, cartoons and maps, and rare books and other printed works.

We are in the process of developing an exciting new Digital Archive which will be accessible to all.
