Request a Print Source

Sometimes you may find that a source you need is not available to read online. This may be because the source:

  • you need is not available electronically (it is print only).
  • is not included in the University Library e-resource subscriptions.
  • is not available freely online.

If after checking Library Search you find that the source you need is not available to read online you can ask us to try to obtain it for you. You can use our Document Delivery Service or the Interlibrary Loan Service.

How to Make a Request

When to use Document Delivery

Use Document Delivery if the book or journal article you need is available in the University Library print collections. We will digitise book chapters or journal articles (in compliance with our copyright licence) and email them to you.

How to make a Document Delivery Request

  1. Check Library Search to make sure the source you need is not available online. Visit our support pages on how to search for books and how to search for journal articles.
  2. Note down the bibliographic details of the source you need (this may be title, author, date, page number etc.).
  3. Complete the Document Request Form providing as much information as you can.

When to use Interlibrary Loan

Use Interlibrary Loans if the book or journal article you need is not available within the Library print collections. We will try and find a digitised copy of book chapters or journal articles for you from the British Library or another university library.
