Study Skills- Literature Review

Skills support on literature reviews

Referencing Tips

You’ll be doing a lot of reading for your literature review. Below we’ve shared some tips to make doing your references easier:

  • Make sure you know what referencing style you are expected to use – check your module guide. In most cases it will be Harvard but some subjects do use other styles.
  • Save your sources as you’re going along (we’ve included a section on this in this tutorial).
  • Use Cite Them Right regularly during your writing process – even if you are using an app to help with your references it is a good idea to do a manual check of a few sources on Cite Them Right.
  • Add the basic citation data when making notes – author, title year, page number – to make sure you know where all your evidence comes from.
  • Seek study skills support when you have questions.
