Support for Local Schools and Colleges

A guide for local schools and colleges on the support available from the University Library.

We offer students in years 12 and 13 at local colleges and sixth forms the opportunity to join as guests through a tailored arrangement with their school. As guests, they can make use of the study spaces at St Peter's Library, and browse our print collections during our helpdesk hours when Library staff are on site.

Our Library spaces are for quiet study and learning, both individually and in small groups, and are working environments for students and staff of the University. Our values of respect and inclusivity embrace all we do and all who use our services. All our students are usually over 18, and they expect to study in an adult environment.

Arranging membership for your students

Our approach starts with a group induction visit that includes a teacher. Following this, students can register with us and visit individually if they choose.

Please get in touch with us via Library Talk if you would like to discuss this access for your students.

Safety and wellbeing

The safety and well-being of all our users are important to us. When visiting the Library, we ask that everyone treat each other and our staff with courtesy. We ask that everyone respect the rights of others to work in a quiet and safe environment. If you have any concerns at any time about your safety or that of anyone else, please speak with a member of the Library team at the first opportunity.

If we experience any poor behaviour in our Library, we will report this to the school and withdraw the offer to visit and study.
