Referencing Support for Students
Cite Them Right Online
The University subscribes to an online referencing guide called Cite Them Right Online which contains guidance on referencing lots of different sources, from books and journals, to live music and graffiti.
Both students and staff at partner centres can access Cite Them Right Online from anywhere, at any time using a University User ID and password.
Note for Partner Staff:
Partner Staff should access Cite Them Right Online via the Library Search record to ensure access. This uses a proxy that mimics being in Sunderland. Partner staff can no longer log directly into the Cite Them Right page using the Institutional Login due to a change in authentication set-up.

Support from Library Staff
Although partners are responsible for providing study skills support to students the University Library does provide some guidance on using Cite Them Right in a number of ways.
- Library Talkstudents can contact us 24/7 if they would like to ask us a question about Cite Them Right, or if they need support using it
- Library Webinars (Partner Centres)The University Library run a webinar which focuses on referencing & plagiarism and covers Cite Them Right Online. It is aimed at students who may have been referred through academic misconduct, but it is open to all students at partner centres.
- Study Skills Drop-insUniversity Study Skills Advisers run an online drop-in every weekday. These tend to be for quick study skills queries.
