Hope Constance Monica Winch (1894–1944) was a pioneering pharmacist and educator who played a key role in shaping pharmaceutical education in the UK. Appointed Head of Pharmacy at Sunderland Technical College in 1921, she established one of the first dedicated pharmacy departments in the country, laying the foundations for what is now the University of Sunderland’s School of Pharmacy. Remembered as a trailblazer for women in the profession, her legacy continues through the Hope Winch Society, which supports and celebrates pharmacy students today, and the Hope Winch Collection housed in Special Collections
