TNE: Library Support for Staff at SBCS

Help and support for staff at SBCS in using University Library Services to support students.

Induction Resources for Staff at Partner Centres

The induction resources on this page are aimed at students studying at a transnational partner. If you are a member of staff at a partner centre you are free to use or link to the material on this page on your virtual learning environments or within your teaching materials.

If you do re-use any of these resources please remember that our services are often updated and as such induction resources may need updating. Please check back regularly for updates. We will make you aware of any updates through the Newsletter for Partner Staff.

To request tailored support materials, book a real-time session or to ask any questions about the resource son this page, please contact the Distance Services Librarian, Leanne Young (leanne.young@sunderland.ac.uk).

Real-time Library Induction (Teams)

The Distance Services Librarian is happy to be a part of student induction at partner centres. You can organise a webinar or real-time teams session as part of induction, or as a refresher for returning students. In these sessions we can cover the following topics:

  • Using Library Reading Lists.
  • Finding ebooks, journal articles and other e-resources.
  • How students can obtain information that is not available online.
  • How to use Cite Them Right to help with referencing.

Library Guide for Students at an Overseas Partner Centre

Encourage students to work through this guide which serves as an online induction. It includes videos and activities to help students familiarise themselves with the Library. Staff at partners may also choose to use this guide within their own classes.

Library Induction Presentation (Powerpoint)

The slides in this presentation provide an introduction to the University Library. They include links to videos and and further support. Staff at partner centres are free to use the whole presentation or use individual slides in your own presentations, but please do not edit the content of the slides.

The Powerpoint presentation was last updated August 2023.
