We will provide you with the academic and library skills to help you achieve the best possible results from your studies and develop your independent learning skills
Our Study Skills Advisers will provide a range of academic study advice
Our Liaison Librarians will provide skills to help you find and evaluate information for your assignments including discussing the range of appropriate resources for your subject of study and keeping up to date with current research
A range of online guidance providing step by step advice on the most common study skill topics
Daily online Study Skills drop-ins are provided Monday to Friday except for during University Closure periods, giving you the opportunity to ‘drop-in’ for up to 10 minutes and ask your Study Skills questions.
One-to-one appointments with either a Study Skills Adviser or Liaison Librarian to help you develop and improve your independent academic skills. These can be requested through an online form and will last a maximum of one hour. These sessions will be limited to two appointments per assignment
We cannot offer an opinion on the mark you might receive for you work
All our Study Skills Advisers are able to discuss your academic work and as such we do not guarantee that you will see the same adviser if you return for another appointment
Here’s what we expect from you:
You will arrive on time to your appointment, fully prepared with the necessary materials and equipment. If you are unable to attend you will notify studysupport@sunderland.ac.uk as soon as possible
You will confirm your attendance at least 24 hours prior to your appointment by replying to your offer email. If you do not respond before this time, your slot will be released and given to another student
You will treat our Study Skills Team with courtesy and respect
You will provide as much information as possible in your one-to-one request form and respond to emails, so that we can provide the appropriate level of guidance
