English for Academic Purposes - Home

Develop your English language skills and achieve in your main programme of study. Take an academic English language class to develop your spoken and written academic English.

EBS Courses

EBS courses are aimed at students whose first language is not English or speak English as a second language and whose main programme has a Business focus. These courses are in-sessional modules meaning that they run in term time.

As a general guide to skill level, if you have an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher, the Developing courses are likely to be the most appropriate for you. If your score is lower than 6.5, then the Introduction courses will be most appropriate. If you have a higher IELTS score and wish to start with the Introduction level, you will be able to move up to the Developing level in the next block of teaching.

Each course requires you to attend two hours per week, plus an additional 30 minutes is available for tutorials.

We are offering five-week courses designed to help you develop your English language and academic skills and support you in your main course of study.

Structure for EBS courses:

Semester 1

Block A: 20 October 2025 - 20 November 2025
