Our spaces in Sunderland are open to our guest community during our staffed helpdesk hours. Guests can use the study spaces in Library@Murray and St. Peter's Library, refer to our print collections, and connect their own devices to our WiFi networks. We can only admit guests who are over the age of eighteen. This guide refers to guest and visitor access for our Sunderland campuses only.

We welcome a range of guests, including:

  • Students, researchers, and staff from other UK higher education institutions, who have joined the SCONUL Access scheme.
  • University of Sunderland graduates who have joined the University's Alumni Association.
  • Members of staff who have now retired and those granted Emeritus Professor status.
  • Members of Sunderland City Libraries, Sunderland Colleges, Sunderland City Hospital, and Sunderland Law Society.
  • Visiting professors and researchers actively working with the University of Sunderland.

Guests are not eligible to borrow laptops, place interlibrary loan requests, reserve items, or use our PCs or printers.

If you have any questions, please contact us on Library Talk.
