One of the first steps in your research project is to identify what has already been written or said about your topic and consider where the gaps are in order to contextualise your own work.
To do this, you will need to familiarise yourself with the library resources.
Below are our Library Essentials video guides containing information on how to use our Library Search to find Books, eBooks, and Journal Articles.
This will support you with RDF sections 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3.
Many titles are available as ebooks which you can read online using your University user ID and password.
If you are eligible for a campus card, you can borrow print books from our collections.
Items in our collections will be labelled as either 28 Day Loans (all wider reading materials, including print books and DVDs) or Not For Loan (items that must be used within the library for reference). If at the point of issue, a 28 Day Loan resource is reserved by another student, the loan period will automatically change to a 7 Day Loan and renewals will not be possible, to ensure the fair circulation of resources. If a resource is reserved whilst on loan the due date will not change but renewals will not be possible.
All students eligible to borrow from our collections, both undergraduate and postgraduate, can borrow up to 25 items at a time.
Print books and DVDs can be renewed for up to a total of an extra 196 days. The maximum renewal date, calculated as 196 days from the date the item was first issued, will be displayed on your account. If the resource has been reserved by another library user, renewals will not be possible.
