Stakeholders from across the Higher Education sector require research to be made available Open Access.

The University of Sunderland Open Access Mandate outlines the requirement that all staff must make research outputs freely available in SURE on acceptance for publication. 

The UKRI Open Access Policy applies to authors in receipt of funding from them, and requires that authors add their outputs to SURE immediately upon publication. 

The Open Access requirements for REF2028 will be published in Spring 2024, but they will almost certainly align with the University Mandate, and the UKRI Policy.

• Leverhulme Trust
• Horizon funding
